A young man in need of marriage, but his parents refused to marry him off, claiming he is too young; is he obligated to obey them?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His EminenceThe Shaykh : Do you think that obedience to the parents is obligatory for me if they prevent me from marrying without an acceptable excuse? Their excuse is that I am young, whereas I am twenty years old. What is the way out if they insist on their refusal? I have a strong need for marriage. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : If you are able to marry, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Young man, those of you who can support a wife should marry, for it keeps you from looking at strange women and preserves you from immorality يا معشر الشباب من استطاع منكم الباءة فليتزوج فإنه أغض للبصر وأحصن للفرج
Mishkat al-Masabih 3080
So if you are able to marry, there are two matters here: your parents' command not to marry, and your Prophet's command to marry. Whom do you obey? Whom do you obey? The Prophet. There is no doubt in this. So we say: if you are able to marry, then marry, whether the parents are pleased or not. As for if you are not able, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
and whoever cannot then he should fast من لم يستطع فعليه بالصوم
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3208Sahih (Darussalam)
In this case, if you are not able, it is obligatory for your father, if he is able to marry you off, that he must marry you off, as an obligation, just as it is obligatory for him to provide for you, because chastening a person is like providing for him. He is in need of chastening himself just as he is in need of food and drink. So the summary of the answer now is: if you are able to marry, then marry, even if your father and mother prevent you, because before you is a command from whom? Before you is a command from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and it takes precedence over the command of your parents. As for if you are unable, you have no money, and your father has money, then it is obligatory for your father to marry you off. If he refuses, then he is sinful. If your father is poor, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided the youth, if they cannot afford the marriage, to fast. He said:
should fast, for it will be a restraint (Wija) for him. فعليه بالصوم فإنه له وجاء
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2241Sahih (Darussalam)
meaning to cut off [the desire], because fasting reduces the desire. Yes.
