Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((And none takes heed except those of understanding)).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Allah Mighty and Majestic says:
And none will remember except those of understanding. وما يذكر إلا أولوا الألباب
[Al-Baqarah 2:269]
The "ma" is a negation.
takes heed يذكر
Its original form is "yadhdakkar" (he remembers), but the "t" was changed to a "dh" and assimilated into the other "dh," becoming
And none takes heed وما يذكر
meaning: none takes admonition and benefits from the Qur'an except those of understanding, meaning: except the owners of intellects. This is because "al-albab" is the plural of "labb," and "labb" is the intellect. The intellect intended here is the intellect of perception, the intellect of conduct, or both? It includes both, but the more important is the intellect of conduct. The intellect of perception, whose opposite is insanity, and the intellect of conduct, whose opposite is foolishness. So the one who takes heed through the Qur'an is the person whom Allah granted an intellect by which he perceives things, and whom Allah the Exalted granted soundness by which he conducts himself well. This is the one who takes heed. As for the one whom Allah the Exalted granted an intellect by which he perceives things—which is the intellect opposite to insanity—but did not grant him an intellect by which he conducts himself well—which is the intellect opposite to foolishness—this one does not benefit from the Qur'an. Only the one with the intellect of perception and the intellect of conduct benefits. In this noble verse there are many great benefits. First: that this Qur'an is the speech of Allah, based on His saying:
It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book هو الذي أنزل عليك الكتاب
[Ali 'Imran 3:7]
. If someone were to say: "This objection is raised against you:
And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might وأنزلنا الحديد فيه بأس شديد
[Al-Hadid 57:25]
sent down from the sky, rain أنزل من السماء ماء
[Al-Baqarah 2:22]
Do you say that iron is the speech of Allah, and that water is the speech of Allah? No, no? Do you all say no? Good. Why did you make this indicate that the Qur'an is the speech of Allah? We say: because speech is an attribute that does not exist in itself; it does not exist except in a speaker. Unlike water and unlike iron, which are entities that exist in themselves, so they are created. As for the Qur'an, it is not created, because it is an attribute of the Creator Mighty and Majestic. The created thing is distinct from the Creator, separated from Him, but speech is an attribute that is His action, so it is not created.
