The ruling on a husband who does not treat his wife with kindness
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I have been married for about 25 years and have many sons and daughters. I face many problems from my husband; he frequently insults me in front of my children and in front of near and far relatives, and he never appreciates me without reason. I do not feel at ease except when he leaves the house. I know that this man prays and fears Allah. I ask you to guide me to the right path? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer: It is obligatory for you to be patient, and to advise him in the best manner, and to remind him of Allah and the Last Day, so that perhaps he may respond and return to the truth and abandon his bad character. If he does not do so, the sin is upon him, and you have a great reward for your patience and for enduring his harm. It is prescribed for you to supplicate for him in your prayer and otherwise, that Allah guide him to the right, that He grant him noble character, and that He protect you from his evil and the evil of others.
And you must examine yourself, and be upright in your religion, and repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) from any bad deeds or mistakes you may have committed against Allah, or against your husband, or against others. Perhaps he was sent to you because of sins you committed; for Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says: [Surat al-Shura: 30].
There is no harm in asking his father or mother or his older brothers, or any relatives or neighbors who can influence them, to advise him and guide him to good treatment; in accordance with the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He): [Surat al-Nisa: 19] and His saying (peace and blessings be upon him) : [Al-Baqarah 2:228] the verse [Surat al-Baqarah: 228].

And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.
وَمَا أَصَابَكُمْ مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُو عَنْ كَثِيرٍThere is no harm in asking his father or mother or his older brothers, or any relatives or neighbors who can influence them, to advise him and guide him to good treatment; in accordance with the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He):
And live with them in kindness
وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِAnd due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable. But the men have a degree over them [in responsibility and authority].
وَلَهُنَّ مِثْلُ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَلِلرِّجَالِ عَلَيْهِنَّ دَرَجَةٌ
