Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of them says: If my father compels me and says, "You will not enter my house if you do not propose to so-and-so, the daughter of so-and-so"?

Answer:
If she is not suitable for him, he is not obligated to obey him:
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
, he is not obligated to obey him except in what is good. If she is suitable, he should obey his father. If she is not suitable, whether due to her lack of beauty or her bad religion, he is not obligated to obey his father. Marriage is not easy, and its matter is great.
Q: He says: My father will expel me from the house......?
A: If he marries her for the sake of his father, may Allah reward him with good.
Q: Meaning: he should be patient?
A: Yes, he should be patient, perhaps Allah will bring them together:
perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.فَعَسَى أَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَيَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا
[al-Nisa:19]. He may marry her while he is averse to it, and then Allah will bring them together.
