The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on the confirmation of the obligation of zakah:
"Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ما من صاحب ذهب ولا فضة لا يؤدي منها حقها، إلا إذا كان يوم القيامة صُفِّحت له صفائح من نار، فأُحمي عليها في نار جهنم، فيُكوى بها جنبه وجبينه وظهره، كلما بردت أُعيدت له في يوم كان مقداره خمسين ألف سنة، حتى يُقضى بين العباد، فيرى سبيله إما إلى الجنة، وإما إلى النار .
There is no owner of gold or silver who does not pay its due, except that on the Day of Resurrection, plates of fire will be made for him, and they will be heated in the Fire of Hell, and he will be branded with them on his side, his forehead, and his back. Every time they cool down, they will be returned to him on a day whose measure is fifty thousand years, until judgment is rendered between the people, and he will see his path, either to Paradise or to the Fire. It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, what about camels?” He said: “And there is no owner of camels who does not pay their due, and their due is to milk them on the day of their return, except that on the Day of Resurrection, they will be trampled by him with a herd of camels, the most abundant they ever were, without a single one missing. They will trample him with their hooves and bite him with their mouths. Every time the first ones pass over him, the last ones will be returned to him, on a day whose measure is fifty thousand years, until judgment is rendered between the people, and he will see his path, either to Paradise or to the Fire. It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, what about cows and sheep?” He said: “And there is no owner of cows or sheep who does not pay their due, except that on the Day of Resurrection, they will be trampled by him with a herd of cows and sheep, without a single one missing, with no hornless, no bald, and no toothless ones. They will gore him with their horns and trample him with their hooves. Every time the first ones pass over him, the last ones will be returned to him, on a day whose measure is fifty thousand years, until judgment is rendered between the people, and he will see his path, either to Paradise or to the Fire. It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, what about horses?” He said: “Horses are of three types: they are a burden for one man, a shield for another, and a reward for a third. As for the one for whom they are a burden: it is a man who ties them up for showing off, pride, and hostility toward the people of Islam, so they are a burden for him. As for the one for whom they are a shield: it is a man who ties them up in the cause of Allah, but does not forget Allah’s right in their backs and necks, so they are a shield for him. As for the one for whom they are a reward: it is a man who ties them up in the cause of Allah for the people of Islam in a pasture or a meadow. Whatever they eat from that pasture or meadow, good deeds are recorded for him equal to what they ate, and good deeds are recorded for him equal to their dung and urine. And if he cuts their length and they give birth to a foal or two foals, Allah records for him good deeds equal to their tracks and dung. And if their owner passes them by a river and they drink from it, and he does not intend to water them, Allah records for him good deeds equal to what they drank. It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, what about donkeys?” He said: “Nothing has been revealed to me regarding donkeys except this comprehensive, clear verse: ‘Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.’”
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim, and this is the wording of Muslim"
.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
This is the hadith that the author (may Allah have mercy on him) cited in the chapter on the obligation of zakah, the chapter on the confirmation of the obligation of zakah and the explanation of its virtue:
It is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, which Muslim narrated in full, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned gold, silver, camels, cows, sheep, horses, and donkeys, and mentioned the ruling for each of them, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him. And thus he was, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him: he explained to the people with a sufficient and adequate explanation, until he left his Ummah (the Muslim community) and Allah had completed the religion through him and perfected the favor upon the believers. So he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
If any owner of gold or silver does not pay what is due on him, when the Day of Resurrection would come, plates of fire would be beaten out for him; these would then be heated in the fire of Hell and his sides, his forehead and his back would be cauterized with them. Whenever these cool down, (the process is) repeated during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years, until judgment is pronounced among servants, and he sees whether his path is to take him to Paradise or to Hell.
Sahih Muslim 987a
:
Gold and silver: zakah is obligatory in their substance in every case. Zakah is obligatory in the substance of gold and silver in every case, whether a person prepares them for spending, or for marriage, or for buying a house he needs to live in, or for buying a car he needs to ride in, or for saving them to increase his wealth, or otherwise. In them, zakah is due in every case.
Even the gold that a woman wears and the silver she wears: zakah is obligatory on her, zakah is obligatory on her in them in every case. But it is necessary that the nisab (the minimum threshold for zakah) is reached. In gold, it is eighty-five and a half grams, and in silver, it is nine hundred and fifty grams. If a person has this amount of silver and that amount of gold, zakah is obligatory on him in every case. If he does not do so, his recompense is what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned: on the Day of Resurrection, plates of fire will be made for him, not of gold and silver, but of fire, and we seek refuge in Allah. It is a fiery cut, and it will be heated in the Fire of Hell. The Fire of Hell is superior to all the fire of this world by sixty-nine parts. All the fire of this world, even the fire of gas and what is hotter, the Fire of Hell is superior to it by sixty-nine parts. We ask Allah to protect us and you from it.
The student: Amen.

The Shaykh : It will be heated in the Fire of Hell, and he will be branded with it on his side, meaning the right and left side, and his forehead, meaning his face, and his back, which is clear.
Every time they cool down, they will be returned.
: It will not remain until it cools and he is left alone. Every time it cools, it will be returned to him.
during a day whose extent will be fifty thousand years
Sunan Abi Dawud 1658Sahih (Al-Albani)
: It is not for an hour or two hours, or a month or two months, or a year or two years. It is fifty thousand years, and he is being tortured with this torment. We seek refuge in Allah.
until Allah gives His Judgment among mankind during a day whose extent will be fifty thousand years of your count and he sees whether his path is to take him to Paradise or to Hell
Sunan Abi Dawud 1658Sahih (Al-Albani)
, we ask Allah for well-being.
And on this basis, this hadith is like an explanation of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And those who hoard gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah - give them tidings of a painful punishment.
[At-Tawbah 9:34]
: And the meaning of "they hoard it" is: they do not pay its zakah, as the scholars from the Companions, the Tabi'un (the generation after the Companions), and those after them explained it. Because what its zakah is not paid from is a hoard, even if it is on the tops of mountains. And what its zakah is paid from is not a hoard, even if it is in the depths of the earth.
A hoard is what its zakah is not paid from.
The Day when it will be heated in the fire of Hell and seared therewith will be their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs
[At-Tawbah 9:35]
: And this is physical torment and pain. And they will be tormented with a spiritual torment, and it will be said to them:
This is what you hoarded for yourselves, so taste what you used to hoard." هذا ما كنزتم لأنفسكم فذقوا ما كنتم تكنزون
[At-Tawbah 9:35]
, so they will have both physical torment and spiritual torment through rebuke and blame. What will his heart be like at that hour when it is said to him: "This is what you hoarded for yourself?" His heart will be torn apart. Physical pain and spiritual pain, and we seek refuge in Allah. This is the recompense of the one who does not pay zakah from gold or silver, and whatever takes the place of gold and silver in currency has its ruling. And on this basis, whoever has paper money equal to this amount of gold and silver must pay its zakah. The dealings of people now in all countries, or most of them, are with paper money: a one-riyal note, a five-riyal note, a ten-riyal note, a fifty-riyal note, a hundred-riyal note, a five-hundred-riyal note in Saudi Arabia. These notes take the place of gold and silver, because they have been made a substitute for them in dealings between people. So if a person owns paper money equal to this amount of silver, he must pay its zakah, meaning equal to fifty-six Saudi riyals in silver, he must pay zakah. And it is known that silver rises sometimes and falls sometimes, so he estimates its value when zakah becomes obligatory on him. If it reaches the nisab, meaning fifty-six riyals of silver, he must pay its zakah. And the amount of zakah is one quarter of a tenth.
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) mentioned camels, cows, and sheep, and made it part of the right of camels to milk them on the day they come to drink. If they come to water, they are milked. And it is customary that they milk them and give it in charity to those present. This is part of their right, because camels are a large breed with a lot of milk. So when they come to water, they produce milk, and when they produce milk, there is a lot of surplus milk. So when the poor come, it is distributed to them. This is part of their right.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned that horses are of three types: a reward, a cover, and a burden. And as for donkeys, he said: لم ينزل عليه فيها شيء إلا هذه الآية الجامعة الفاذة : فمن يعمل مثقال ذرة خيرا يره * ومن يعمل مثقال ذرة شرا يره Nothing was revealed to him regarding them except this comprehensive, clear verse: ‘Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.’ If donkeys are used for good, they are good. And if a person uses them for evil, they are evil. And Allah is the One who grants success.
