Tafsir: {So whoever wills, let him believe, and whoever wills, let him disbelieve}

Question:
Q: Is this command for the purpose of threat?

Answer:
This is for the purpose of warning, as in the verse for the purpose of warning
so whoever wills - let him believe; and whoever wills - let him disbelieveفَمَنْ شَاءَ فَلْيُؤْمِنْ وَمَنْ شَاءَ فَلْيَكْفُرْ
[al-Kahf:29] for warning and caution, and that you will not outpace Allah nor be able to defeat Him. But here, it is to clarify the legal ruling and that repentance annuls what came before it, and it is not intended as permission; because it is known from the Shari'ah by explicit text and scholarly consensus that no one has permission to commit sins. Rather, the meaning is that as long as he is in the state mentioned, and he repented then returned then repented then returned, the last repentance is like the previous one: it is accepted and valid if it meets its conditions. However, in most cases, one who repeats this may be abandoned and not granted success in repentance. We ask Allah for well-being.
