Q5: Is the elderly woman who has no need for men, or the young girl who has not reached puberty, required to observe the waiting period for widowhood upon the death of her husband?
A5: Yes, the elderly woman who has no need for men, and the young girl who has not reached puberty and is not close to it, must observe the waiting period for widowhood if her husband dies, by delivering her child if she is pregnant, or by remaining for four months and ten days if she is not pregnant; due to the generality of the statement of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:234]
and the generality of the statement of Allah the Exalted:[At-Talaq 65:4] And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

وَالَّذِينَ يُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنْكُمْ وَيَذَرُونَ أَزْوَاجًا يَتَرَبَّصْنَ بِأَنْفُسِهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًاand the generality of the statement of Allah the Exalted:
And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth
وَأُولاتُ الأَحْمَالِ أَجَلُهُنَّ أَنْ يَضَعْنَ حَمْلَهُنَّ
