We know that obedience to the husband is obligatory for every married woman, following the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): “Any woman who dies while her husband is pleased with her will enter Paradise.”

The questioner : This questioner, the honorable Shaykh Muhammad, says: We know that obedience to the husband is obligatory for every married woman, following the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)
Any woman who dies when her husband is pleased with her, will enter Paradise. أيما امرأة ماتت وزوجها عنها راض دخلت الجنة
Sunan Ibn Majah 1854Hasan (Darussalam)
Does this apply to a husband who maintains his prayer, and to one who neglects prayer, such as one who prays one obligatory prayer and leaves ten? I ask you for advice and guidance in this matter, may you be rewarded.

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that the husband who fulfills the rights of Allah and the rights of marriage has a greater right than the husband who is negligent in that. The wife may treat her husband as he treats her; in other words, if he is bad in his treatment of her, she may be bad in her treatment of him to the extent that he was bad in his treatment of her, based on the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He)
And the reward for an evil is an evil like it وجزاء سيئة سيئة مثلها
and His saying (Mighty and Majestic)
So whoever has assaulted you, then assault him in the same way that he has assaulted you فمن اعتدى عليكم فاعتدوا عليه بمثل ما اعتدى عليكم
[Al-Baqarah 2:194]
But there is no doubt that the benefit lies in patience and seeking reward from Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and in avoiding stubbornness, for this may lead to the situation becoming better. Allah the Exalted said:
(34) And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend. (35) But none is granted it except those who are patient, and none is granted it except one having a great portion [of good].
[Fussilat 41:34-35]

As for his negligence in the right of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), that is a matter of another nature. The woman should advise her husband and speak to him in a way that achieves benefit and good, without reprimand or blame or the like, because the husband considers that he has a degree of authority over his wife. If she speaks to him in a way of blame and reprimand, his arrogance in sin may take hold of him, and he may not accept the truth. So the woman should use every method by which benefit is achieved and harm is removed.
As for if he does not pray at all, and you advised him but he did not accept, then at that time it is obligatory for her to separate from him, because he becomes an apostate, and it is not permissible for a Muslim woman to remain under the authority of an apostate. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
